What is a community host?

Community hosts play an important role in the Abundant Harvest Organics family. Together our hosts help coordinate weekly fresh produce deliveries to our members across the state of California.

As a community host, you’re the first and primary point of contact for our members in your assigned area of your local community.

A great community host is:

  • Passionate about organic food
  • Well connected in their community
  • Computer savvy and interested in marketing
  • Energized by talking with people and assisting them when they have questions and concerns
  • Self-motivated and well organized
  • Willing to make a weekly commitment to hosting a site—rain or shine
  • Has access to a vehicle that can hold our produce boxes if necessary

How can I become a community host?

All new Abundant Harvest Organics community hosts must do the following before launching a delivery site:

  • Obtain a business license if required by your city
  • Find and establish a central pick up location in your area (i.e.: a business lot, church parking lot, public park, or any unused building with a parking area) that can legally and physically allow for the temporary parking of our refrigerated delivery trucks
  • Sign up a minimum of 35 new subscribers (committed with a credit card on file)
  • Have a smartphone, email and high-speed Internet access
  • Be committed to positive messaging, emphasizing what is good about Abundant Harvest and not what’s bad about the other guy. We believe in the importance of organic farming, but do not believe in criticizing conventional farmers as many are our friends and neighbors.

As a community host, you will be running your own business.

This means you’ll have tax advantages that allow you to write off a percentage or all of the items that pertain to your business in any way (there is no sales tax in selling of raw agricultural products).

Compensation: A community hosts receives 6% of all gross sales at their delivery site.
